How to Store Your Wine at Home (Without a Fancy Cellar)

Let’s be real: most of us aren’t living in castles with underground wine cellars. But that doesn’t mean we can’t treat our bottles with well at home.

Here’s how to keep your wine tasty:

1. Keep it cool, but not 'that' cool
Wine loves consistency. Aim for somewhere between 11–18°C. Your kitchen counter in August? Not ideal. A closet or shaded corner? Much better.

2. No sunbathing
UV rays mess with wine. Keep your bottles away from windows and direct light.

3. Lay it down (if it’s corked)
Got bottles with corks? Store them on their sides to keep the cork moist. Dry cork = oxygen sneak-in = sad wine. Screw caps? They’re chill either way.

4. Skip the vibrations
Wine doesn’t love being moved. Avoid keeping bottles near your washer, dryer, or loud speaker. Sorry, wine doesn’t dance.

5. Drink it!
Most wines aren’t meant to age forever. If you’ve had that bottle for 3 years “for a special occasion”, this is your sign. Tonight’s the night.
