Anna & Serena: The Story of a Steady Friendship

Friends since their master’s program at 23. For a long time it was just a polite “hello, how are you?” every now and then, until a small disagreement brought them closer. During a lab course, Serena raised her voice trying to make a point. Anna shot back, “Let’s all start shouting while we’re at it, huh?” Serena burst out laughing… and the rest was history.

Away from their families, living in dorms, nights of studying turned into even later nights of chatting and drinking. Secrets swapped, voices overlapping, somehow always understanding each other… maybe it was the ADHD bond, who knows?

In this captured moment they’re in their late twenties. They don’t know yet that one of them will move abroad after a heartbreak… or that the other will move closer after a marriage that wasn’t “happily ever after.” They don’t know yet that one will become a mom, the other a devoted cat parent. They’d be surprised to learn there will be years when they don’t connect the same way… but also that they won’t need to.

Thirty years on, the friendship will still be there—bending, changing, growing, but never breaking.
